The Fuzion pole vaulting training sessions will focus primarily on actual vaulting…i.e. time on the runway. While there are other off-runway drills that apply to the pole vault, and we will at times do some of those drills (and often recommend that athletes do these drill outside of training sessions), we’ve worked very hard to coordinate the use of pole vaulting facilities and believe that this is what our athlete-customers principally pay for.
Our vault sessions are designed for athletes of all experience levels from the complete beginner to the experienced collegiate and post-collegiate competitors. As a result, we will “tune” the drills, training and vaulting to the specific experience level of the athlete, in order to produce the most productive training sessions and help the individual athletes accomplish their off-season training goals. Pole vaulting is a very difficult sport requiring speed, strength and agility unlike any other activity. We strive to provide the appropriate mix of technical coaching, positive encouragement, and “big-picture” perspective to ensure that every athlete has an enjoyable and productive experience.
Head Coach: Jim Moeller, USA Track & Field Association (USATF) Level 1 certified and USATF listed coach (i.e. completed and passed background checks. See http://www.usatf.org/About/Programs/Background.aspx for more information and specifically http://www.usatf.org/about/programs/backgroundChecks/info.asp?associationNumber=30 for the listing of Minnesota coaches). Minnesota masters vaulter and 45-49 age-group State record holder (13’0” – 2011), all-time PR of 14’9” as a senior in high school.
Poles will be provided. We have over 80 poles across a wide spectrum of lengths and flex weights to accommodate every vaulter. In addition, in the rare event we don’t have the pole you need we can get the appropriate pole quickly. Any questions on poles, feel free to contact us.
Arrive promptly and be ready to warm-up at the start of the session. Come prepared in the appropriate athletic attire and footwear. You WILL be able to use track spikes provided the shoes use the smaller 1/4" length spikes. We will be on a standard track surface.
All participants will be required to provide a signed liability waiver form at the first session. See the Fuzion Athletics Minnesota (https://fuzionmn.fuzionathletics.com) Website for the liability waiver form.
